Del City High School football game in Oklahoma, a 16-year-old boy is killed after being shot

According to police, a 16-year-old boy was killed in a shooting at an Oklahoma high school football game Friday.

In a statement, the Choctaw Police Department said that gunshots were fired on the visitor’s side of the stadium during Choctaw High School’s third quarter game against Del City High School on Friday.
The shooting was caused by an argument between at least two men, according to police.

Unidentified Victim’s Del City High School Affiliation Under Scrutiny

Neither Del City nor Choctaw school systems reported the 16-year-old as a student. He was shot in the groin area and died as a result of his injuries.
The incident also injured at least four others, including a 42-year-old man who was shot in the chest and is now in the intensive care unit.

Injured Girls and Police Presence: Details Unveiled

Three girls were injured in the shooting. Two sustain broken wrists and a broken leg while attempting to escape the area. Police did not reveal the ages of the girls. The victims of the incident have not been identified by the police. There were two Del City police officers on scene for security reasons when an officer with the Del City Police Department discharged his firearm at the scene, which is being investigated by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office as an officer-involved shooting.

Weapons Recovered: Two Guns and an Eight-Round Magazine Found

Additionally, five officers from the Choctaw Police Department were at the game for security reasons. A person of interest has been described to investigators, but no suspects are in custody at this time.
An eight-round magazine and two guns were recovered from the scene, police reported.
The superintendents of Choctaw-Nicoma Park Schools and Mid-Del Schools said in a joint statement that they are cooperating with the police in the investigation.

In a statement released on Friday, Reid and Cobb said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by tonight’s incident.”
Investigators from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and Del City are assisting the Choctaw Police Department in investigating the incident.
The police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
