World Leaders Attending the G20 Summit 2023

The G20, consisting of 19 countries and the European Union, will gather in New Delhi under India’s Presidency. Notable leaders, including US President Joe Biden, Britain’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, will participate. The summit will also feature prominent figures such as Argentine President Alberto Fernandez, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and French President Emmanuel Macron, among others.

Leaders Who Will Be Absent

Regrettably, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the summit. Vladimir Putin faces an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for “war crimes” in Ukraine, making international travel a risk. Chinese President Xi Jinping’s absence remains unexplained.

About the Venue: Bharat Mandapam

The two-day summit on September 9-10 will be hosted at the newly-built international convention and exhibition centre, Bharat Mandapam, located at Pragati Maidan. This exquisite venue showcases India’s rich heritage and cultural diversity and offers panoramic views of Delhi’s iconic landmarks, including India Gate and the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Preparations to Welcome Dignitaries

Leading Delhi hotels have made special arrangements for world leaders and foreign delegates, including ITC Maurya, Taj Mansingh, Taj Palace, and more. Bespoke silverware, crafted by artisans, bearing India’s cultural motifs will be used for fine dining experiences. The summit menu will feature Mughlai cuisine, South Indian delicacies, and a variety of street food.

Bilateral Talks and Meetings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will engage in bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden on September 8, during the g20 summit. Additionally, he is expected to meet French President Emmanuel Macron after the summit’s conclusion.

Delhi’s Grand Makeover

New Delhi has received a striking makeover, adorned with banners showcasing iconic heritage sites and vibrant murals depicting India‘s cultural heritage. The city’s civic body has displayed G20 banners with the theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ symbolizing global unity.

Stringent Security Measures

To ensure safety, a robust security arrangement is in place in New Delhi. Vehicle movement will be regulated, online delivery services (except medicines) will be restricted, and counter-drone systems will be deployed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation.
