G20 Summit: Minimal Impact on Delhi Metro Services, Supreme Court Station Only Affected

Limited Impact on Delhi Metro Services During G20 Summit

In light of the upcoming G20 Summit in New Delhi, concerns were raised about potential disruptions to Delhi Metro services from September 8 to 10 due to heightened security measures. However, Delhi Police’s senior official clarified the situation on Monday, September 4, assuring the public that the impact will be limited.

According to the official statement, the only metro station where services will be affected is the Supreme Court station. While there may be brief closures of entry and exit gates at some other metro stations for security reasons, these interruptions will not lead to a disruption in the overall train services.

Surender Yadav, Special CP, Traffic, Delhi, affirmed at a press conference, “Delhi Metro services will be affected at the Supreme Court metro station only. Metro services will continue at all other stations. At some metro stations, entry/exit may be closed for 10-15 minutes as per security rules, but train services will remain uninterrupted.”

Earlier, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had announced that during the G20 Summit period, the metro would operate normally, but entry and exit at certain stations might be temporarily closed. Traffic flow will be maintained through one or two gates at these affected stations.

The G20 Leaders’ Summit is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from September 9 to 10, with world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, visiting India during this period to participate in this significant event.
