iPhone Owners Express Concerns About Overheating Problems on the Latest Models

Reports have emerged indicating that the iPhone 15 Pro models may be facing overheating problems, causing frustration among users who eagerly awaited these new Apple devices. Just two weeks after their release, some customers have expressed disappointment with their performance.

Social media platforms have been flooded with complaints about these devices unexpectedly shutting down due to overheating, with some users stating that their phones become too hot to even hold comfortably.

Engineer turned tech content creator, Mohit Verma, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his experience, stating, “The natural titanium iPhone 15 Pro gets extremely hot, so much so that it becomes difficult to hold. It heats up after just a two-minute FaceTime call or when scrolling through reels for eight-10 minutes. This is a new issue for me, as I’ve never encountered this with any previous phone.”

In a video posted by Verma, he recorded himself checking the temperature of his iPhone 15 Pro, which reached highs of 42 degrees Celsius (107.6 degrees Fahrenheit).

Another report from Apple Hub claimed that the device could overheat after just two minutes of being on the Home Screen.

Concerns are rising among affected users about potential long-term battery damage due to overheating issues. Verma voiced this concern, saying, “This gonna harm battery health here.. and what if something happens with the motherboard because of heat? Will Apple fix that for free?”

Tech blogger Alex Gear & Tech also faced issues with his device, noting that the overheating problem was preventing him from charging it. In his video, a temperature check showed his iPhone 15 Pro reaching highs of 39 degrees Celsius (102 degrees Fahrenheit).

There is speculation that the overheating problem might be linked to a software issue that emerged with the iOS 17 update.

The Sun has reached out to Apple for comment regarding these overheating complaints.

While it can be frustrating to spend between £999 and £1,199 on an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max that struggles to withstand even 10 minutes of social media scrolling, there are steps you can take to mitigate overheating. Here are six useful tips to help keep your phone cool:

  1. Enable the auto-brightness feature in Settings: Adjusting the screen brightness automatically can help reduce the device’s temperature.
  2. Turn off Bluetooth: Disabling Bluetooth when not in use can prevent unnecessary power consumption and overheating.
  3. Close apps that use location services, like Safari and Maps: Apps that constantly use your location can contribute to overheating. Close them when they are not needed.
  4. Turn off AirDrop: AirDrop can consume power and generate heat. Switch it off when not sharing files.
  5. Avoid high-intensity activities like gaming apps or HD streaming: Resource-intensive tasks can generate more heat. Limit such activities to prevent overheating.
  6. Turn off Wi-Fi in extreme cases: If your device is still overheating, disabling Wi-Fi can help lower the temperature, although this may limit some functionality.

By following these tips, you can potentially address and alleviate overheating issues on your iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max, ensuring a smoother and cooler experience.
