New Delhi: On a mission to revolutionize AI technology in India, Nvidia Corp. has unveiled groundbreaking partnerships with two of India’s leading conglomerates, Reliance and the Tata Group. These collaborations aim to propel the development of AI-powered supercomputers, AI clouds, and generative AI applications, marking a significant stride in India’s tech landscape.

Reliance’s Generative AI Framework

Reliance’s telecom and technology subsidiary, Jio Platforms Ltd, is set to pioneer the deployment of generative AI in local languages. This transformative initiative seeks to establish India’s foundational large language model (LLM), enriched with diverse languages, paving the way for a linguistic AI revolution.

Tata Communications’ AI Cloud

Tata Communications Ltd is embracing the future with the creation of an AI cloud, designed for its clients in an infrastructure-as-a-service model. This AI cloud will be a dedicated platform for the development and deployment of AI applications, leveraging the power of Nvidia’s GH200 AI chip. Jio’s AI infrastructure will also harness this cutting-edge technology.

TCS Ventures into Generative AI

India’s largest IT services firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is set to leverage Nvidia’s AI computing infrastructure to embark on generative AI applications for its clients. TCS’s move into the generative AI realm comes after a surge of interest, with over 50 pilots and research projects, along with over 100 real-life projects in the pipeline.

Nvidia’s Vision for India

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, emphasizes India’s potential with its wealth of data, scale, and talent. Through its partnership with Reliance Industries’ Jio Platforms, Nvidia will contribute to the development of state-of-the-art AI supercomputers within India. Nvidia’s DGX Cloud supercomputer-on-cloud service will be a cornerstone of this AI infrastructure, hosted across data centers nationwide with a total capacity of over 2,000MW. While Reliance Jio will spearhead execution, implementation, and marketing, Nvidia stands as the technology partner.

Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, assures that the infrastructure will be secure, sustainable, and deeply relevant to India’s growth. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, envisions these tech supercenters as catalysts for India’s progress.

N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, emphasizes the profound impact of AI and machine learning across industries and societies. He highlights the need for a common regulatory framework for generative AI, ensuring responsible innovation.
