On a somber note, it has been reported that G Marimuthu, the renowned Tamil actor-director, passed away due to a heart attack. The 57-year-old actor, known for his recent appearance in the blockbuster movie “Jailer” alongside Rajinikanth, left behind a legacy that will be remembered by many.

Film trade analyst and industry insider Ramesh Bala shared this unfortunate news on social media, specifically on X (formerly known as Twitter), confirming the sudden demise of G Marimuthu.

An Accomplished Career

G Marimuthu was a familiar face in the Tamil entertainment industry. He gained recognition for his role in the Tamil television series “Ethirneechal.” Moreover, he had the privilege of working with eminent filmmaker Mani Ratnam and others as an assistant director.

The Tragic Incident

Marimuthu’s sudden demise unfolded when he reportedly collapsed while dubbing for his TV serial “Ethirneechal” in Chennai around 8.30 am on a Friday morning. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was, sadly, pronounced dead. The news was shared on social media by Johnson, a public relations professional closely associated with the South film industry.

“Shocking… director-actor Marimuthu passed away now at 8.30 am. Due to cardiac arrest. RIP Marimuthu,” he tweeted. In another tweet, he said, “It has been confirmed that actor Marimuthu (58) who was dubbing for Ethireneechel serial this morning suddenly fainted and was taken to the nearby Surya Hospital, where he died due to chest pain.

Tributes Pour In

In the wake of this tragic loss, tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans alike. Actor Radikaa Sarathkumar expressed her condolences, saying, “So sad and shocked to hear of his passing of Marimuthu have worked with him a man with talent, gone so soon. Condolences to his family.”

A heartfelt fan tribute read, “Deeply saddened to hear about the untimely demise of the versatile actor Marimuthu. His recent blockbuster was ‘Jailer.’ He was a superstar on both the big and small screens. A tremendous loss for our industry. May his soul rest in peace.”

G Marimuthu’s journey in the world of cinema was marked by dedication and perseverance. Leaving his hometown of Pasumalaitheri in Theni, he arrived in Chennai in 1990 with dreams of becoming a film director. His initial struggles saw him working as a waiter in hotels, but fate had other plans.

He crossed paths with lyricist Vairamuthu, which eventually led to a role as an assistant director alongside Rajkiran on films like “Aranmanai Kili” (1993) and “Ellame En Rasathan” (1995). Marimuthu continued to climb the ladder of success, collaborating with renowned filmmakers such as Mani Ratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and SJ Surya. He even served as a co-director on Silambarasan’s “Manmadhan.”
