The All-New Third-Generation Volkswagen Tiguan: A Game Changer

Volkswagen Tiguan: The Reigning Champion in German Car Sales
Ring the bells and send out the ravens! Exciting news is here, sure to delight automotive enthusiasts far and wide. The current best-selling model from a prominent German car company is none other than the medium-sized SUV, the all-new third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan.
A New Era for Volkswagen
Bid farewell to the notion that the Volkswagen Golf was the pinnacle of Volkswagen’s excellence. Instead, gather around the fire and welcome the third-generation Volkswagen Tiguan as the new star in the Volkswagen constellation. Since 2007, Volkswagen has sold a staggering 7.5 million Tiguan units, making it “the most successful VW model worldwide.”

Innovations and Upgrades
The stakes are high for this remarkable SUV, which now rides on the MQB evo platform, promising improvements in practically every aspect. From engines to technology, the new Tiguan aims to elevate the driving experience.

Powerful Engines
- A revised plug-in hybrid powertrain features a new 19.7kWh battery, enabling the Tiguan to travel up to 62 miles (100km) in all-electric mode. Paired with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, it delivers over 200bhp or just under 270bhp. VW estimates a remarkable 621-mile range for the Tiguan eTSI.
- Two additional mild hybrids, equipped with the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, offer 126bhp and 147bhp options.
- The lineup also includes two 2.0-liter turbo petrol engines (200bhp/260bhp) and two 2.0-liter turbo diesel engines. The petrol versions come with 4WD, while the hybrids are FWD, with six and seven-speed DSG transmission options.

Enhanced Chassis Control
Thanks to the new platform, the Tiguan features an upgraded chassis control system, including a ‘vehicle dynamics manager’ that optimizes e-diff locks and shocks. The result? Handling characteristics that are more neutral, stable, agile, and precise. Plus, there’s more camber dialed in for a sportier feel.
Immersive Technology
Volkswagen has embraced a more screen-centric approach in the new Tiguan’s interior. Gone is the integrated screen/physical dials setup of the second-gen model, replaced by a massive 12.9-inch infotainment display (upgradeable to 15 inches). The digital driver display is now flatter in design and less prone to glare, eliminating the need for a binnacle. Other interior improvements include a multi-function steering wheel, a larger center console, new seats, a heads-up display (HUD), and enhanced space and materials.
