The Begin Again Remake Is In Talks with Farhan Akhtar; Nitya Mehra Will Direct
Besides directing Ranveer Singh in Don 3, Farhan Akhtar will star in Begin Again and Champions remakes, along with Excel Entertainment's upcoming film.

The much-awaited Don 3 was announced by Farhan Akhtar recently, and Ranveer Singh will play the third generation of Don after Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, taking the digital world by storm. Once Ranveer Singh finishes shooting Baiju Bawra in 2024 and hits the big screen in 2025, the film will begin production by the end of 2024. Farhan Akhtar will first explore his acting abilities before committing all his energies to the new Don film. The actor is in advanced discussions to star in Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment’s next film, directed by Nitya Mehra.
Begin Again stars Farhan Akhtar as a musician
Currently, Farhan and Nitya are in the process of developing a musical comedy. The project is a remake of the 2013 Hollywood classic, Begin Again, and is expected to go on floor before the end of this year. According to a source close to the development process, the film traces the journey of a musician who produces an album that breaks all records, and Farhan and the female protagonist play characters who are rooted in the Indian Music Industry as well.
In Begin Again (Hindi), Nitya Mehra is in talks with a young actor. As Farhan’s next acting venture, Champions is slated to begin filming in January 2024. “Farhan was also committed to Champions for Aamir Khan Production, but the film is slated to begin shooting in January 2024.” The source added that Farhan will then be involved in another acting project produced by Excel Entertainment, followed by Don 3.
Farhan will appear in three films before Don 3
Farhan’s last acting gig was with Rakeyesh Omprakash Mehra on Toofan, and the makers will be making an official announcement once the paperwork for Begin Again is completed. In Baar Baar Dekho and Made in Heaven, Nitya Mehra worked as a producer with Farhan, and Farhan Akhtar recently revealed his plans for the next 2 years in an interview with Khaleej Times. The actor said, “My focus is on Don 3 right now, and Jee Le Zaraa will be picked up after that. I also have two films coming up before we get into Don 3 as an actor. I’m starting a film in January that will be produced by Aamir Khan Productions. My next film will be for Excel Entertainment, which will begin in June or July. It’s directed by RS Prasanna, who also directed Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. He is a great director.”
